The Congregation of Franciscan Sisters of St. Aloysius Gonzaga was founded by Rev. Fr. Michael Ansaldo,S.J in 1775 at Puducherry as an orphanage to care for the oppressed poor, the abandoned women and the helpless children and now it has evolved into its full status by passing through various stages as a registered charitable entity dedicated wholeheartedly to the cause of education and social upliftment in favour of the less privileged humanity in general and women in particular, keeping its focus on the Gospel values for which it is a living and vibrant witness till today. It has to its credit many educational and philanthropic centres in India and abroad, served by its 1000 committed members.

To look back through the corridors of time that has been traversed in the path of education, “Education was considered the soul privileged of a few belonging to the upper caste. It was denied to the socially and economically oppressed”. This was the situation which propelled the Gonzaga Sisters to take up the challenge of educating the poor and trodden. They dared to set up institutions exclusively for women, inspite of the social stigma that was attached to women’s education at that time. The seeds for our education mission were sown as elementary schools and slowly taken root as high schools and grown as higher secondary schools. Franciscan Sisters of St. Aloysius Gonzaga had the foresight to impart higher education to the young women. This long nurtured dream came into reality through the tireless efforts of very Rev. Mother Barbara Mary (Superior General) and her team members, Rev. Sister Mathias Mary and Rev. Sister Alli Kutty. This St. Joseph Teacher Training Institute is a brief picture of the long awaited dream.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTION:

St. Joseph Teacher Training Institute (W), Pagalpatty is a well known institution in Salem District. This was established in 1947. This institute has got approval and permanent recognition from the NCTE.

FACILITIES :

Our institution has got well equipped laboratories, ambient space in class rooms and open area for sports and other extracurricular activities also well planned auditorium for all the programme's. We also have well qualified faculties and maintain good teacher and student ratio. The admission process is completely based on their marks. All the type of students (SC/ST/BC/MBC) are getting their scholarship for every year for their studies.

FACULTIES:

Our faculties are well qualified, dedicated towards their job and educate their students get complete knowledge on the subject. They motivate their students to become good citizen for our country. The admission process is completely based on their qualification.

NEWS & EVENTS

We conduct regular events like educational trip, sports, cultural activities, and all the national festivals. We give special coaching for spoken regularly. We and TET Examination regularly.
